Customs officials at Zayed International Airport have caught a traveler attempting to smuggle cocaine worth Dh5 million inside his stomach. According to the General Directorate of Ports at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, the incident occurred on Friday (June 20). The passenger was traveling from a South American country. Officials grew suspicious during routine screening and subjected the man to advanced scanning, which revealed 89 foreign capsules inside his digestive system. The capsules, later confirmed to be cocaine, weighed approximately 1,198 grams. The man was immediately referred to the competent authorities, who safely extracted the capsules. The Authority commended its inspectors for their vigilance and emphasized its ongoing efforts to improve inspection systems to safeguard the country from drug trafficking threats. ICA/Expat Media
