Tributes pour in for Indian biker killed in Sharjah motorcycle crash
DUBAI – Tributes have poured in for a popular Indian biker who died in a motorcycle crash on Sharjah’s Kalba Road. Japin Jayaprakash, 37, was killed on the spot after his motorcycle hit a concrete barrier on Saturday morning, according to Sharjah Police. Police investigations revealed that the biker lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to crash into the concrete barrier, killing him. Jayaprakash, who was popular in the UAE and India motorcycle circuits, lived in Dubai and previously worked for the Indian Consulate in Dubai. He was due to open his own advertising company on Monday (April 25). His wife and their two sons flew to India on Sunday. His remains will be repatriated to his hometown of Kerala. Asif, Jayaprakash’s long-time friend and partner in the advertising company venture, mourned the loss of his friend, whom he described as an “extremely experienced rider”. Jayaprakash reportedly worked until early on Saturday morning to do some last-minute paperwork, said Asif. “Japin, it is very sad that journeys put a full stop to life. I can't believe it. At Dubai Indian Consulate you were there to help when I called in times of need. Wishing you eternal peace,” another friend wrote on Facebook. Jassim Muhammad, President of the Indian Social Centre in Ajman, called Jayaprakash a “very hardworking man”. Muhammad said he hired Jayaprakash and gave him his first job. “He was a very pleasant person to work with,” he said. Anish Chaudhury, who works at the Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra help centre at the Indian Consulate, called Jayaprakash “a very good person, kindhearted”. “I am getting messages from many consuls, who had worked with him, from different parts of the world. We will miss him badly,” Chaudhury said. A consulate official said Jayaprakash “was a friendly and positive person who was always helpful and cheerful”. “It is a great loss to me as a friend and as a former colleague. He was such a nice guy that everyone, who knew him, will miss him,” he said. Jayaprakash was a professional biker who was very active in biking groups in the UAE and India. He was out on a ride with his biking group on Saturday at the time of the accident.
