Highlight of US President's visit is speech about Islam; Trump to go to Israel, Vatican, Belgium and Italy

  WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday (May 20) on his first foreign trip which will take him across the Middle East and Europe. Trump met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Trump was accompanied by his wife, Melania. Billboards bearing portraits of Trump and King Salman have been put up in Riyadh, ahead of the US President's arrival. Saudi King Salman said Trump's visit will strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and the US. "Mr President, your visit will strengthen our strategic cooperation, lead to global security and stability,” King Salman said in a message on his official Twitter account in Arabic and English. Prior to leaving Washington, Trump tweeted: "Getting ready for my big foreign trip. Will be strongly protecting American interests - that's what I like to do!" David Urban, who ran Trump's successful campaign and worked with his transition team, told CNN:"The President is going to the Middle East to let our friends know we are back and to let our enemies know we are back. CNN reported that Trump is expected to "unveil a huge arms deal in Saudi Arabia and discuss with leaders of Muslim-majority countries how to respond to Iran's power projection in the region." A highlight of Trump's Saudi Arabia trip will be a speech about Islam and according to National Security Adviser H.R McMaster, Trump will ""develop a strong, respectful message that the United States and the entire civilized world expects our Muslim allies to take a strong stand against radical Islamist ideology, an ideology that uses a perverted interpretation of religion to justify crimes against all humanity." "He will call for Muslim leaders to promote a peaceful vision of Islam," McMaster added. From Riyadh, Trump will proceed to Israel and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and meet Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas in the West Bank. Trump will go to The Vatican to meet with Pope Francis then go to Brussels to attend a meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and proceed to Sicily for the G-7 summit.
