Measure also restricts Trump from easing existing sanctions on Moscow

  WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has signed into law a measure that metes additional sanctions on Moscow despite saying that the bill is "seriously flawed." The bill, which had been overwhelmingly passed by Congress, also restricts Trump from easing sanctions imposed by the Barack Obama administration for alleged meddling in the US elections last year. The measure, according to a CNN report, represents a rebuke of Trump by giving the US legislature new veto power to block the US President from removing sanctions on Moscow. The White House announced the signing of the bill but pointed out the measure contained "a number of clearly unconstitutional provisions" (that) "purport to displace the President's exclusive constitutional authority to recognize foreign governments, including their territorial bounds."
