Authorities in Abu Dhabi have shut down two food establishments for posing serious health risks due to repeated food safety violations and insect infestations. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) announced the closures of Strong Tea Cafeteria, located in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, and Kohinoor Restaurant in New Shahama. According to ADAFSA, both outlets violated Abu Dhabi's law on food safety. Inspections revealed multiple high-risk violations, including the presence of pests and insects, and failure to maintain hygiene standards. Strong Tea Cafeteria had previously received three fines and a warning of closure before the final order was issued. “The administrative closure decision followed the facility’s repeated, highly dangerous violations and failure to take corrective actions,” ADAFSA said in a statement. Kohinoor Restaurant was also cited for similar repeated violations. “The decision came after the restaurant ignored previous warnings and continued to breach food safety requirements,” the authority stated. The closures will remain in effect until both establishments comply fully with health and safety regulations. ADAFSA urged residents to report food safety concerns by calling the Government of Abu Dhabi's toll-free number 800555.
