UAE: 3 men jailed, deported after attempting to steal materials from a villa under construction
The Ras Al Khaimah criminal court sentenced three Asians to one year in prison for attempting to steal from an under-construction villa. They will be deported once they have served their sentences. The robbery attempt was detected after the property's Gulf national owner received a message from surveillance cameras to his mobile phone. When a warning regarding unusual activity on the site was transmitted via surveillance cameras, a Gulf national realized that theft had targeted his under-construction villa. He notified the authorities, and the robbers were apprehended by Ras Al Khaimah Police and reported to the Public Prosecution. The suspects were arrested and accused of attempting to steal electrical cables. The complainant claimed he received phone notifications of movement in his under-construction villa. The video transmission showed two suspects attempting to move electrical lines from the villa to an adjacent home. The complainant then proceeded to the house to catch them in the act, but as soon as they noticed him, they abandoned the items and escaped. The owner attempted but failed to catch up with them. During that time, he saw a parked vehicle when the first accused was waiting for the other gang members. The trio soon got in the car and fled the scene.
