UAE: 5-year-old child rescued after dangling from a 13th-floor window

On Wednesday, residents in the Al Taawun neighborhood of Sharjah were able to save the life of a little kid who had been hanging from the 13th floor of a building. The child got stuck in a window while playing, and the neighbors saw him from the street. They immediately informed the police and tried to save him. Adel Abdel Hafeez, a building resident, told the local media that when he returned home from work, he saw people on the street pointing to a child in one of the structure's windows. After quickly informing the watchman, he proceeded straight up to the thirteenth level to rescue the child. He added: "We knocked on the door and no one opened. I called the father of the child and told him we would break the door to enter and save the child from falling off the window. He allowed us to do so and we entered immediately. We found the child holding the edge of the window with difficulty and standing on the tips of his toes. I grabbed his hands and lifted him gradually. The window opening was narrow so the watchman raised it until the child was brought in and rescued." He said six police patrols, ambulances, and the child's mother came shortly after the child was saved. Hafeez went to the police station to file a report on the incident and give his statements. The Sharjah Civil Defense has stated that it quickly dispatched a rescue team after receiving a tip about a youngster stuck in the high-rise building. However, when the rescue team arrived at the scene. BKM/ Expat Media
