UAE: 9 arrested for reckless driving during heavy rain
Nine motorists were arrested in Ras Al Khaimah for reckless driving during heavy rain in the emirate, according to Ras Al Khaimah Police. Police said the motorists performed stunts during the rain in Al Bariyya and Mina Al Arab last weekend. The motorists have been penalized, police said. Colonel Mohammed Al Bahar, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that the motorists were tracked down after video of them performing dangerous stunts during adverse weather conditions went viral on social media. The police official said that the drivers were fined Dh2,000 each and their vehicles will be impounded for 60 days. They were also given 23 black points in their traffic file. The motorists will have to pay additional Dh10,000 to release their vehicle after the impoundment period.
