Two Emiratis died and three others sustained injuries in a car accident in Saudi Arabia, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday (December 20). The incident occurred while the group was traveling, though details of the crash’s circumstances remain unclear. The injured individuals received emergency medical care at King Khalid Hospital in Hail, Saudi Arabia, before being transported back to the UAE in a critical operation carried out by the UAE National Guard’s National Search and Rescue Center. Upon arrival in the UAE, the survivors were admitted to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City for further treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were repatriated for burial. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep gratitude to Saudi authorities for their collaboration, which facilitated the evacuation and repatriation efforts. This accident has drawn comparisons to a tragic event last year, where five people were killed in a UAE-registered car on the Batha-Haradh road in Saudi Arabia. These incidents have spurred calls for improved road safety measures and awareness campaigns, especially on highways prone to accidents. Saudi Arabia is a popular destination for Emiratis and UAE residents, particularly for religious pilgrimages and tourism, making cross-border travel safety a topic of growing importance.
