UAE updates travel rules for Iranians, airlines reflect new entry restrictions

The UAE has updated its travel rules affecting Iranian nationals, with major carriers Emirates, Etihad Airways and flydubai reflecting the latest entry and transit restrictions across their platforms. As of Wednesday (April 1), the airlines indicated in their travel advisories that Iranian citizens are currently not allowed to enter or transit through the UAE, subject to specific exemptions. The updates come as part of broader regional developments, with airlines advising passengers to review the latest travel requirements before making plans. All three carriers confirmed that holders of the UAE Golden Visa remain exempt and are allowed to enter or transit through the country. According to Emirates, additional exemptions apply to certain UAE residents of Iranian nationality. These include individuals who are spouses of Emirati nationals, children of Emirati mothers, as well as selected professionals such as doctors, engineers, investors, senior executives, athletes and traders. Etihad Airways stated that Iranian nationals are not permitted to enter the UAE, with exemptions limited to Golden Visa holders. Flydubai also reflected similar guidelines, noting that Iranian nationals are not allowed to enter or transit through the UAE unless they hold a Golden Visa. Authorities have not indicated how long the restrictions will remain in place.
