Hamza Gul, a 25-year-old Pakistani national, is making headlines as the first individual to successfully rectify his visa status and secure employment in Dubai under the UAE’s new amnesty program. Hamza's journey has been filled with challenges and setbacks, but his story is one of determination and resilience. Initially, Hamza found himself in violation of the UAE's residency rules due to personal circumstances. As his infractions grew over time, the announcement of the amnesty program offered him a lifeline. Determined to stay in the UAE, Hamza spent an entire night outside the settlement centre in Al Aweer to be the first in line to clear his fines and secure a job. His efforts paid off when he was offered a position as a cleaner with Transguard Group. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, confirmed that 15 major private sector companies are participating in this initiative, providing job opportunities for those who wish to regularize their status and continue living in the UAE. On the first day of the amnesty, over 1,000 individuals successfully completed the process. The Al Aweer settlement centre can accommodate 2,000 visitors daily, and 86 Amer centres are available across the emirate to assist with the process. GDRFA teams are on hand to guide visitors through the necessary procedures to rectify their status. ICA/Expat Media ALSO READ: All you need to know about the UAE amnesty
