Private sector employees across the UAE can look forward to ringing in the New Year on January 1 with a public holiday, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced. MoHRE’s announcement on Friday (December 20), aligns with the UAE Cabinet's approved schedule for public holidays for both government and private sectors. Any adjustments or compensations for employees required to work on the public holiday should comply with labor laws, as stipulated by the MoHRE. Earlier on Friday, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) had also announced the New Year holiday for federal government entities. The UAE, known for its cultural diversity and vibrant celebrations, typically marks New Year’s Eve and Day with a range of activities, from iconic fireworks displays to family gatherings and community events.
