Motorists across the UAE will start the new year with slightly lower fuel costs, after the UAE Fuel Price Committee announced reduced petrol and diesel prices for January 2026. On December 31 (Wednesday), the committee confirmed that most fuel types will see a drop in prices compared to December, bringing welcome relief to drivers as the country ushers in the new year. For January, Super 98 petrol will be priced at Dh2.53 per litre, down from Dh2.70 in December. Special 95 petrol will cost Dh2.42 per litre, compared to the previous rate of Dh2.58. Motorists using E-Plus 91 petrol will pay Dh2.34 per litre, down from Dh2.51 last month. Diesel will also see a significant reduction, priced at Dh2.55 per litre, compared to Dh2.85 in December. The new fuel prices will take effect from midnight on January 1 (Thursday) and will remain in place throughout the month of January. The UAE deregulated petrol prices in 2015, linking fuel costs to global oil prices. Since then, prices have been reviewed and adjusted monthly in line with international market movements. For many residents, the latest adjustment provides a positive start to 2026, particularly for daily commuters and businesses that rely heavily on fuel for operations. ICA/Expat Media
