The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) have declared January 1, 2024 as a New Year holiday for all workers. January 1 falls on a Monday, giving UAE residents a long weekend to look forward to. On Thursday (December 21), MOHRE announced that January 1 will be an official paid holiday for UAE workers in the private sector. The decision aligns with the UAE Cabinet Resolution regarding approved public holidays for the government and private sectors. Meanwhile, FAHR announced in a circular that January 1 will be a public holiday for federal government employees, and that work will resume on January 2, which falls on a Tuesday. The UAE Cabinet has approved next year's holidays for the public and private sectors. Here are the important dates: January 1: New Year’s Day Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3: Eid Al Fitr Dhu Al Hijjah 9: Arafat Day Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12: Eid Al Adha Muharram 1: Islamic New Year Rabi’ Al-Awwal 12: Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday December 2: National Day December 3: National Day holiday
