Penalty exemption for firms with 70% UAE staff

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation issued three decisions concerning mechanisms for tracking Emiratisation targets in private sector companies and financial penalties imposed on non-compliant establishments. The new decision states that the payment is payable at the start of the following year for the number of Emiratis necessary to be hired, provided that the absolute value of contributions is paid for the year in which the required Emiratisation target was not met. Article No.3 of Decree No.279 now includes a new clause No.5 stipulating that establishments employing Emiratis for at least 70% of their workforce will be exempt from paying financial contributions. Authorities recently revealed that the total number of private companies joining the Nafis platform has increased to 7,017 companies currently working in various fields to offer multiple jobs for citizens via the platform's website, up from 6,022 companies in early December 2022, an increase of 995 companies in 30 days. The companies joining the platform at the beginning of last July totaled 1,255 companies from the private sector, while the number of companies reached 504 companies at the beginning of last June, 1,947 companies at the beginning of last August, and 3,931 companies at the beginning of October. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) expressed gratitude to private sector firms that met the Emiratisation targets for 2022. BKM/ Expat Media
