The UAE Cabinet has approved a record-breaking federal budget for 2025, amounting to Dh71.5 billion — the largest in the nation's history. Chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the meeting on Tuesday (October 8) saw the approval of the new budget, which surpassed the Dh64.06 billion budget for 2024. The increase comes as part of the country’s long-term strategic vision aimed at social development and infrastructure improvement. Of the Dh71.5 billion, 39 percent will be allocated to social development and pensions. This includes Dh10.914 billion for public and higher education programs, Dh5.745 billion for healthcare and community prevention services, and Dh3.744 billion for social affairs. Meanwhile, pensions will receive Dh5.709 billion, reflecting the government’s ongoing focus on the well-being of its citizens. Government affairs will take 35.7 percent of the budget, equivalent to Dh25.57 billion. Other critical sectors, such as infrastructure and the economy, will also receive significant funding, with Dh2.581 billion allocated for this area, while Dh2.864 billion will go toward financial investments. "This budget is a testament to the UAE’s resilience and forward-thinking governance," said Sheikh Mohammed. "It will ensure that our nation continues to thrive and meet the needs of its people through investment in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure." The federal budget is set to fuel the nation’s growth over the next year, while also contributing to its long-term goals for 2023-2026. The 2025 budget shows the UAE's continued prioritization of sustainable growth, ensuring that it remains an economic powerhouse in the region.
