Federal government employees in the UAE can now work remotely from outside the country under a newly approved system aimed at leveraging global expertise, the UAE Cabinet announced. Chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the Cabinet approved the Remote Work System from Outside the Country in the Federal Government during a recent meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the initiative is designed to expand the UAE’s access to specialized skills beyond its borders. “In the government affairs, we also approved the Remote Work System from Outside the Country in the Federal Government, enabling the UAE to tap into global expertise and specialized talent to execute projects and studies for federal entities,” Sheikh Mohammed said. The policy will apply to specific job roles identified by federal authorities, with clear conditions outlined for contracted employees and their responsibilities.

Boosting foreign investment

The UAE Cabinet also approved the National Investment Strategy for the next six years. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the ambitious targets set under the strategy. “Our goal is to increase annual foreign investment inflows from Dh112 billion in 2023 to Dh240 billion by 2031 and grow the UAE’s total foreign investment stock from Dh800 billion to Dh2.2 trillion over the coming years,” Sheikh Mohammed said. The strategy will focus on industry, logistics, financial services, renewable energy, and information technology, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a leading global business hub. ICA/Expat Media
