The UAE Public Prosecution has ordered the arrest of 25 more people of various nationalities for publishing misleading content online, authorities confirmed. The suspects are accused of sharing information and AI-generated videos that threaten national defence measures and glorify military aggression against the UAE. Attorney-General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said the arrests follow strict monitoring of digital platforms to prevent the spread of fabricated content that could incite public disorder and undermine stability. Investigations revealed three main groups of offenders. Real footage misused: Individuals circulated authentic clips showing missile interceptions or gatherings of people monitoring events, adding commentary or sound effects to exaggerate threats. Such content risks exposing defensive capabilities and spreading panic. AI-manipulated content: Some offenders published fabricated videos or recycled clips from outside the UAE, falsely showing explosions, missiles, or attacks on landmarks. These clips often included national flags or dates to appear credible. Propaganda promotion: Others glorified hostile states and their military actions, praising foreign leaders and encouraging narratives that undermine UAE security. The Public Prosecution has released the photos of the accused and ordered their preventive detention while investigations continue. Al Shamsi emphasized that exploiting cyberspace to spread misleading content that harms public security or misrepresents the UAE’s defensive capabilities is a criminal offense. “Any individual proven to be involved in these acts will be referred to the judiciary to receive the prescribed legal penalty,” he said. The move follows earlier arrests of 10 people for publishing sensitive incident videos, fake AI clips, and misleading information.
