5 online games banned in UAE

  DUBAI – The UAE Attorney-General has ordered a ban on five online games in the UAE, citing their negative impact on the youth. The banned games are Roblox, My Friend Cayla, Blue Whale, Cloudpets and Mariam. Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney-General, said the move to block the games follows reports on the adverse impact of these games on youngsters’ behaviour. Last month, the controversial suicide game Blue Whale was blamed for the death of a Filipino student in Dubai. UAE Attorney-General Al Shamsi has assigned the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority to take all necessary measures to restrict the gaming sites. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also been assigned to continue to investigate into the content of other suspect websites.
