UAE: Authorities rescue a severely injured man after his glider crashed in the desert

A man was severely injured after a glider crashed in Abu Dhabi's Madinat Zayed desert city on Monday (January 16). In collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police, the National Search and Rescue Center in the UAE dispatched a helicopter to perform a medical evacuation. The injured person was transported from the scene of the incident to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City for the required treatment. Last September, a glider hurtled into the parking lot of Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Mosque, leading to the pilot's demise. The plane, also said to be amateur-built, was heading to land at Al Bateen Executive Airport and crashed in an unpopulated area due to a technical malfunction. BKM/ Expat Media
