Motorists should make a full stop at a distance of five metres upon seeing the bus stop sign. DUBAI POLICE
As the academic year finally starts today, Dubai Police invites motorists to join 'A Day Without Accidents' campaign. 'A Day Without Accidents' campaign is UAE's initiative to ensure a safe and 'accident-free' first day of school as students return from their summer break. It also aims to promote responsible driving by educating drivers on vehicle safety, observing speed limits near schools, and avoiding distractions such as mobile phones. Moreover, Dubai Police reminds drivers to come to a complete stop at a distance of five metres when they see the bus stop sign. Those who fail to comply with this traffic rule will be fined Dh1,000 and receive 10 black points. Participants of the campaign will also get a chance to reduce black points registered on their driving licence. They just have to sign the six-point pledge on the Ministry of Interior’s website (https://moi.gov.ae/), follow important traffic rules, and avoid getting into accidents to qualify. They would need their UAE pass to log in and sign the pledge. If all terms and conditions are met, the four black points registered on the driving licence will be automatically cancelled on September 14. This initiative will be valid for two weeks.
