UAE billionaire Hussain Sajwani, founder of Damac Properties, has unveiled plans to invest $20 billion in the US data center sector. The announcement, made on Tuesday (January 7) at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, underscores the Emirati businessman’s ambitions to expand into the booming global digital infrastructure market. “This is an extremely exciting moment for us,” Sajwani stated during the announcement. “Our foray into the US market in data centers represents a significant milestone in our journey to build a global digital infrastructure platform that will empower businesses today and in the future.” The investment will focus on developing state-of-the-art data centers to support the growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. Damac, already a key player in luxury real estate, is leveraging its expertise to position itself as a leader in the tech-driven data ecosystem. US President-elect Donald Trump praised the investment, calling it a “transformative” move. “Hussain Sajwani is a visionary businessman, and this investment will further strengthen ties between the US and the UAE,” Trump said. Sajwani recently shared a photo on Instagram celebrating New Year’s Eve with Trump and Elon Musk at Mar-a-Lago, signaling his close connections with prominent figures in business and politics. Damac currently operates in over 20 countries, with projects spanning luxury real estate and data centers. The company’s investments in data centers already extend across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, positioning it for success in the US market. With $20 billion earmarked for the initiative, Damac is expected to create thousands of jobs and provide cutting-edge infrastructure to meet the surging demand for cloud and AI services.
