Amira Haroon's label chosen in search conducted by DDFC, FAD Institute
DUBAI – UAE-based designer Amira Haroon has been chosen by the Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) and FAD Institute of Luxury, Fashion and Style Dubai to be part of London Fashion Week in September. Haroon will participate in Fashion Scout London, considered as a showcase for up and coming young labels during London Fashion Week, which will be held in mid-September. With international media attending the event, it provides an opportunity for designers to get worldwide attention. As part of their commitment to nurture fashion designers in the Middle East, the DDFC has partnered with FAD Dubai to choose a designer who will showcase his or her portfolio at London Fashion Week.UAE-based designers were asked to submit their portfolios and Haroon's collection was chosen by a panel of judges. The judges were DDFC chief executive Jazia Al Dhanhani; Sass Brown, founding dean of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation; Martyn Roberts, managing and creative director of Fashion Scout London; and Shivang Dhruva, founder of FAD Dubai. Roberts said Dubai "is home to a unique pool of talent, and DDFC is playing a fundamental role in nurturing and supporting designers from the region."
