UAE begins easing of face mask rule

The UAE on Wednesday (September 28) began further easing the rule on wearing face masks in the majority of indoor and outdoor venues in the country. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced the lifting of restrictions on Monday. While the wearing of face masks will no longer be mandatory in the UAE, it is still required in medical facilities and hospitals, mosques, and other places of worship, as well as public transportation. Masks have been gradually phased out in the UAE over the last few months, and wearing them in public has been optional since February 26. Prior to the recent amendment of the restriction, those who failed to wear face masks in public were subjected to a Dh3,000 fine. BKM/ Expat Media
