The UAE began state security court trial proceedings for 84 people with alleged ties to the terrorist group Muslim Brotherhood. The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal (State Security Court) began hearing witnesses on Saturday (January 6) amid the ongoing public trial proceedings. The defendants have been referred to the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal for trial on the charge of establishing a terrorist organisation “for the purpose of committing acts of violence and terrorism on UAE soil”. The group allegedly worked in secret before they were arrested. The Attorney General ordered an investigation into the crime, with legal representation assigned for each suspect. The defendants were referred for trial after the Attorney General concluded nearly six months of investigation that gave evidence of the group’s terrorist involvement. ICA/Expat Media
