The UAE Central Bank has unveiled gold and silver commemorative coins to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sharjah’s first library, the Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi Library. The library, established in 1925, holds a significant place in the UAE’s cultural history, with a collection of rare books and historical maps. The gold coins, with a nominal value of Dh1,000 and weighing 40 grams each, were minted in a limited quantity of 125 pieces. The silver coins, weighing 60 grams and with a nominal value of Dh100, were limited to 1,250 pieces. Each coin’s obverse features the Sultan Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Library building, along with inscriptions marking its centenary. The reverse of the coin displays the name of the library. The coins are available for purchase exclusively at Sharjah Islamic Bank’s head office. ICA/Expat Media
