UAE Central Bank issues new banknote of Dh1,000

A new banknote of Dh1,000 was issued by the UAE Central Bank and would be available at banks and exchange houses starting from April 10. Made of polymer for market circulation, the new design highlights the cultural and development symbols, which reflects the success of the country. It also embodies the forward-looking vision and ambitions of the UAE as a leader of space exploration. Moreover, to make it easy for the public to identify the new denomination, the new banknote preserves the brown color characteristics of the old denomination. It also retained the fluorescent blue marks of the nation brand in the center, while the drawings and inscriptions were created using advanced intaglio printing techniques. The front side of the new banknote depicts the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, next to a model of a space shuttle, inspired by his meeting with the pioneers of the American space agency NASA in 1974. The back of the new banknote features an image of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi, which will play a key role in diversifying energy sources in the country and reducing carbon emissions. In addition, the new banknote features advanced security features that include modern technologies such as SPARK Flow DIMENSIONS to combat counterfeiting of the national currency. The Central Bank also added prominent symbols in Braille to help blind and visually impaired consumers to identify the banknote’s value. The circulation of the new banknote will be alongside the current Dh1,000 note whose value is guaranteed by the UAE law. RZSP/Expat Media
