UAE: Central Bank launches new Dh1,000 banknote on National Day
To celebrate the 51st UAE National Day, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released a new Dh1,000 banknote. The picture of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president and founder of the UAE, is shown on the front of the bill next to a picture of a space shuttle. To the left of Sheikh Zayed's image are the words 'Emirates Mission to Explore Mars - the Hope Probe', referring to the journey made in 2021. CBUAE says that the idea for this design came from a meeting between Sheikh Zayed and the founders of NASA in 1976. This shows that the founder wanted the UAE to be at the top of the list regarding space exploration.
