The Weapons and Hazardous Substances Offices of the Supreme Council for National Security has urged UAE citizens to register their unlicensed firearms and weapons. Suhail Al Neyadi, Director General of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office, said that Emiratis with firearms and ammunition should get a licence to avoid legal action. In the UAE, only Emiratis can apply for a license to own or purchase firearms. License is issued by police as well as the Ministry of Interior. Buying or possessing firearms without a licence or permit is prohibited by UAE law. Firearms licences are issued only to Emiratis, who are permitted to carry a limited amount of ammunition.
