Dubai-based DP World and Abu Dhabi’s Masdar are set to invest over P25 billion (Dh1.5 billion) in various sectors of the Philippine economy, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The announcement came after Acting Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque met with UAE officials earlier this month to discuss investment opportunities. DP World’s investment will focus on logistics, shipping, and trade infrastructure, while Masdar will concentrate on renewable energy projects in the Philippines. The total amount of investments is expected to boost the country’s economy, particularly in sectors related to sustainable energy and transportation. "These investments are a testament to the strong relationship between the UAE and the Philippines. We are excited about the potential job opportunities and economic growth these projects will bring," Roque told Expat Media in a previous interview. The DTI’s Investment Promotion Unit (IPU) worked closely with the UAE government and private sectors to secure these deals, which align with the Philippine government’s goal of attracting foreign investments to further develop infrastructure and renewable energy.
