A company and a driver who works for it have been ordered by the Al Ain Court of First Instance to pay Dh200,000 to a worker for injuries he sustained while performing his job. The worker was allegedly working in a villa still under construction when he fell from a height of three meters, and several wood logs fell on him. The incident happened in May of last year when the driver pulled wood through the vehicle, causing a worker to fall from three meters to the ground before the rest of the wood fell on them. The driver was found guilty by a final judgment following the worker's lawsuit. Additionally, he filed a civil lawsuit in which he demanded that, in addition to paying fees, expenses, and attorney's fees, the driver and the company pay him Dhs400,000 as compensation for the physical, moral, and psychological harm he suffered. According to the medical report on the employee's health, the employee had a 10% permanent disability to their nose, a 20% permanent disability to their spine, and a 50% permanent disability to their right lower limb's functions. According to the court, the driver was to blame for the worker's injury because he was careless and reckless while pulling the wood with the vehicle he was operating at the scene, which resulted in the accident. The court also noted that the driver was an employee of the business, which made it jointly and severally liable with the convict for the amounts awarded because the company was also held accountable for the conduct of its employees. As a result, it required the company and the driver to pay the worker Dh200,000 as compensation for all damages and to cover all associated costs while rejecting all other requests. BKM/ Expat Media
