The UAE has strongly condemned what it described as an unprovoked terrorist attack by Iran targeting Bahrain, which resulted in the death of a civilian contractor and injuries to several personnel. In a statement on Tuesday (March 24), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack was a “flagrant violation of international law” and a serious breach of Bahrain’s sovereignty. The incident led to the death of a Moroccan civilian contractor working with the UAE Armed Forces. Five members of the UAE Ministry of Defence were also injured, along with several Bahraini soldiers. The UAE said the attack represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the wider region. “The UAE reaffirms its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain and supports all measures aimed at safeguarding its security and stability,” according to the ministry. The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed the death of the contractor, describing him as a martyr, and expressed condolences to his family as well as to Morocco. The ministry also wished the injured personnel a speedy recovery.
