Man ordered to pay girlfriend Dh38,000 after refusing to pay loan she took for him

The Al Ain Court of First Instance ordered a man to pay his girlfriend Dh38,000 after refusing to pay the personal loan she took for him through monthly installments as per their agreement. According to court records, the woman sued his lover and demanded that he refund her Dh80,300. She also asked for Dh15,000 compensation for the moral and financial damages she encountered. The Arab woman was in a relationship with the defendant who asked her to get a Dh75,000 loan from the bank because he had some financial issues. He continued to borrow simple loans amounting to Dh41,000 from her bank using a credit card. The defendant submitted a memorandum and requested that the case be dismissed because it was filed prematurely. He argued that he was to pay the woman Dh80,300 over four years, ending in November 2023, according to the agreement that served as the foundation for the plaintiff's lawsuit against him for non-payment. He emphasized that the agreed period had not yet expired. The woman countered in her lawsuit that the man signed an agreement to pay Dh1,800, four years' worth of monthly installments. However, he stopped after paying only Dh36,000. The woman was required to pay for the remaining funds and the interest. The court finally issued an order that the man should pay the remaining Dh38,000 of the Dh75,000 the woman withdrew from the bank on his behalf.
