UAE Covid-19 infections hit below 1,500 for eight day
DUBAI – The UAE’s daily number of Covid-19 remained below 1,500 for the eight day on Friday (May 21), with authorities reporting 1,490 cases. The new cases bring the UAE’s total number of Covid-19 cases to 552,920. There are currently 18,366 active Covid-19 cases in the country. Two more people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,644, while 1,451 patients recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 532,910. The number of Covid-19 infections in the UAE has declined in recent weeks as mass testing and vaccination continued across the country. More than 11.8 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered nationwide. The declining number of Covid-19 cases, coupled with a strong vaccination campaign, has fueled more confidence in a gradual easing of economic restrictions related to the pandemic. Earlier this week, Dubai began a one-month trial period of relaxed rules that brought back events and live entertainment in the emirate.
