The UAE has flagged 107 Emiratis who accepted fake Emiratisation jobs in the private sector, recovering more than Dh2.3 million worth of financial support from them. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), the Emiratis were beneficiaries of the Nafis programme to encourage Emirati employment in the private sector. MOHRE said it acted in coordination with Nafis on violations and fines related to the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis). The ministry said it will be taking legal action against any cases of fake Emiratisation, adding that it will continue to conduct inspections and field visits to companies. "Our systems track companies’ compliance with hiring Emiratis in real jobs, paying their salaries as agreed in their contracts through the Wage Protection System (WPS) and as shown in the digital link between the Ministry and pension funds in the UAE,” according to MOHRE. "We also have an effective smart inspection system and conduct regular field visits to companies employing Emirati citizens.” MOHRE urged Emiratis not to be lured by fake Emiratisation jobs, and encouraged the public to report violators to the ministry or its hotline 600590000. In July, the ministry announced that it gave administrative penalties and fines to 436 companies that committed fake Emiratisation since the second half of 2022. Under the new UAE rule, private sector companies with 50 employees or more must increase their number of Emirati staff by 1 percent every six months, totaling 2 percent per year. Violators will be fined Dh42,000 for each Emirati not hired. Meanwhile, Emiratis who work in the private sector are entitled to financial benefits under the Nafis program. This includes a Salary Support Scheme of Dh8,000 per month for one year to UAE employees who want to go on training, as well as child allowance of Dh3,200 per month for each Emirati employee with children, or Dh800 per child.
