UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced that July 18 will be celebrated as Union Pledge Day, a new public holiday. Union Pledge Day joins Union Day, Flag Day, and Commemoration Day as a national holiday in the UAE. This day will honor the UAE's foundational journey, offering an opportunity to reflect on the country's achievements and future aspirations, said Sheikh Mohamed as he shared this announcement on social media, emphasizing the historic significance of this date when the Union's foundations were laid. July 18 is a significant day in the UAE's calendar, commemorating the historic meeting that paved the way for the federation's establishment on December 2, 1971. On this day, the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, alongside the rulers of other emirates, signed the declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution, officially forming the United Arab Emirates. It aims to instill the values and principles set forth by the late Sheikh Zayed and other rulers, continuing to guide the nation's progress. It will also raise awareness among the youth about the UAE’s history and the sacrifices made to achieve this historic union. ICA/Expat Media
