UAE disinfection drive cut shorter during Ramadan

DUBAI – With Ramadan starting in the UAE on Friday (April 24), the country’s ongoing National Disinfection Programme (NDP) will be reduced by two hours during the holy month. UAE authorities said that the NDP will be carried out from 10pm to 6am instead of 8pm to 6am during Ramadan. During the disinfection period, the public is urged to stay at home, unless they need to go out to buy food or medicine, or to visit a hospital. In Dubai, authorities said that residents may be able to leave their homes from 6am to 10pm without applying for a permit. According to the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority, supermarkets, food outlets, pharmacies and co-operative societies may remain open for 24 hours throughout Ramadan.
