The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) said it has shut down 230 social media accounts for promoting unlicensed domestic worker recruitment services. The ministry said it shut down the accounts last year after investigations revealed that the accounts were operated by individuals who had not obtained the necessary licences and were not affiliated with authorised recruitment offices. MoHRE said such practices violate the Domestic Workers Law and may expose employers to legal risks. Families who deal with unlicensed recruiters may lose legal protections and face risks related to incomplete procedures, including medical examinations and background checks. Licensed recruitment offices operate under regulated pricing structures and service standards. They are required to provide trained and qualified workers who meet approved requirements. MoHRE urged Emirati and resident families to work only with licensed domestic worker recruitment offices. Residents can report suspicious activities or misleading advertisements by calling 600590000 or checking the official list of licensed offices on the ministry’s website.
