UAE nationals with regular passports will be able to enter Japan without a visa beginning November 1, 2022. They will be able to enter the country without a visa as long as their stay does not exceed 30 days. Previously, it was announced that UAE citizens would be exempt from the need for a visa to enter Japan. This came as the UAE and Japan signed a comprehensive strategic partnership. Japan recently announced that its Covid restrictions on foreign tourists would be lifted, reopening the borders after two and a half years. The East Asian country had earlier suspended visa waivers until further notice — but as it started easing rules for tourism, travelers from several countries have been granted exemption from visa requirements. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, a Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, launched the comprehensive UAE-Japan partnership as the two countries celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations.
