Companies in the UAE must provide staff accommodation to their employees who are earning Dh1,500 or less per month, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) reiterated. MOHRE said that companies must also provide accommodation to their employees if they have 50 or more workers. The accommodation must meet labour housing standards. Each person should be allocated at least three square metres of space, and one bedroom should only have a maximum of 8 to 10 people "while maintaining the commitment to the area allocated to each person". Each employee must have his or her own permanent bed space, with a bed, side table and lockable cupboard. Accommodations must be air-conditioned, well-ventilated and well-lit, with a prayer hall, kitchen, first aid room and other housing services, according to the UAE Government. "Guidelines from the ministry provide detail for bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and dining room. There should be a medical service room, prayer room and laundry room too,” according to information on the UAE Government website.
