UAE: Etihad, Emirates ranks among most punctual airlines in 2022

In 2022, Etihad Airways and Emirates were among the top 20 most punctual airlines in the globe. According to data from the worldwide data platform for the travel industry, OAG, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad, and Emirates were placed 19th and 20th, with on-time performance (OTP) of 81.14 percent and 81.13 percent, respectively. Flights that arrive or depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled times are considered on time. Last year, Etihad and Emirates had one of the lowest flight cancellation rates, at 0.55 percent and 0.02 percent, respectively. They were the only Gulf carriers to make the 2022 top 20 lists. In the last two years, local airlines have resumed service to most destinations they served before the pandemic. Dubai's flagship carrier currently serves over 130 destinations on six continents, while Abu Dhabi's national carrier serves 64 locations. Emirates' regional position has risen from fifth in 2019 to third in 2022, while its global ranking has increased from 34th to 20th. Last year, the world's top five most punctual airlines were Garuda Indonesia, South Africa's Safair, German low-cost carrier Eurowings, Thai AirAsia, and South Korea's Jeju Airlines. BKM/ Expat Media
