UAE Exchange suspends new transactions

DUBAI – UAE Exchange, a remittance and foreign exchange company based in the UAE, announced on Monday (March 16) it is temporarily suspending new transactions at all of its branches and online channels. The move is a result of “certain operational challenges”, the UAE Exchange said in a statement. It comes after the company received customer complaints over delayed fund transfers, with some customers saying they still have not received funds from transactions in February. In its statement, the UAE Exchange apologized to customers and said, “We are currently focused on processing all existing transactions as quickly as possible”. UAE Exchange is owned by UAE-based billionaire Dr B.R. Shetty, the founder of scandal-hit healthcare network operator NMC Health, which was accused of incorrect finances and false reporting of major shareholders’ stakes. Shetty has since resigned as co-chair of the leading UAE healthcare group. ICA/Expat Media
