Expat deported from UAE after controversial FB comment Following a controversial Facebook comment interpreted as inciting violence against women who do not wear headscarves, an Egyptian expat in the UAE was fired and deported. Despite apologizing and saying that the remark was a joke, an Egyptian girl and a friend filed a complaint with the UAE authorities against the Egyptian expat, identified as I.K. The expat had commented: "If each person bought a scissor and cut the hair of any girl who's not wearing a hijab, then you won't see any woman without hijab." The girl was taken aback by the Egyptian expat's comment and asked him if he was serious. The expat replied, "of course." The Egyptian man was promptly fired from his job and deported back to Egypt by UAE authorities. In another Facebook post, the man explained that he was joking when he commented and that he had learned his lesson. The comment quickly went viral. Some said he deserved it and thanked the Emirati government for acting swiftly, while others condemned the decision to deport the Egyptian expat because of a Facebook comment.
