UAE expats from 97 countries are eligible for visa on arrival (VoA) in Indonesia, and a new e-visa system is set to launch in December to make the application process easier for residents. VFS Global has been appointed to manage the electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) platform, which will provide UAE residents with an online process to obtain pre-approved visas before their journey. The new system, designed to streamline the visa application process, allows travelers to apply through the VFS Global website by uploading required documents and paying the necessary fees online. The e-VoA, which costs IDR500,000 (Dh120) plus a service fee of IDR230,000 (Dh50), will be sent directly to applicants via email before their trip, allowing for faster entry into Indonesia via e-gates or immigration counters. The platform is expected to enhance the overall travel experience for UAE residents visiting Indonesia, and it offers support in seven languages, including English, Arabic, and Mandarin. The e-VoA service is also integrated with Emirates airline, giving travelers the option to apply for their visas when booking flights to Indonesia. "This user-friendly and secure digital service will significantly improve the visa application process, enabling us to boost tourism to Indonesia," said Zubin Karkaria, CEO of VFS Global Group. The platform will offer several advantages, including OCR technology that helps automatically populate applicant details, reducing errors and saving time. Group bookings for conventions and tours will also be available, providing flexibility for large parties. Expats planning trips to Indonesia can access the e-VoA platform from mid-December 2024 by visiting the VFS Global website and completing their applications online or they can also apply for the visa via Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
