The UAE Ministry of Education has announced the extension of distance learning for all students and school staff across the country until Friday (April 17). The directive applies to all nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools across the UAE. Distance learning was initially scheduled to end on Friday (April 3), pending further guidance from authorities. Following the announcement, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) confirmed that private schools and higher education institutions in Dubai will also continue remote learning for an additional two weeks. KHDA said distance learning in private education institutions will run from Monday (April 6) until Friday (April 17). “The decision has been taken to support the safety and wellbeing of students and academic and administrative staff, and to ensure continuity of learning,” the authority said. In an earlier advisory issued on March 24, KHDA noted that any institution seeking to resume in-person classes must submit a formal request with clear justification. Final approval remains subject to the Ministry of Education, with safety as the top priority. Officials said the extension is part of broader precautionary measures to ensure the protection of the education community while maintaining uninterrupted learning. ICA/Expat Media
