The UAE has facilitated the release of a US citizen who had been detained in Afghanistan, reinforcing its role as a key mediator in international diplomacy. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the release took place on Tuesday (March 24), with the UAE hosting the operation and coordinating the individual’s transfer back to the United States. Representatives from both the United States and Afghanistan were present during the process. The ministry expressed appreciation to both countries for placing their trust in the UAE and selecting it as the venue for the release. “This reflects the UAE’s role as a trusted mediator in advancing diplomatic and humanitarian solutions,” the ministry said. Officials added that the move highlights the country’s commitment to promoting dialogue, strengthening international cooperation, and providing a platform for constructive engagement.
