UAE Federal Government entities to remain open on Ramadan

UAE Federal Government entities will remain open with limited hours during the observance of Ramadan. They are open on Mondays to Thursdays from 9 am to 2 pm and from 9 am to 12 noon on Fridays. The government entities will also be implementing flexible and remote work systems during Fridays. Based on astronomical calculations, the first day of Ramadan in 2022 will fall on April 12. However, it will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon, the primary basis of the Islamic calendar. This year's Ramadan will be the third Ramadan of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mosques can now host extended late evening and post-midnight prayers in contrast to last year's Ramadan, where mosques were closed because of quarantine protocols. Despite the ease of restrictions, everyone is still obliged to follow protocols. Mosques will also be sanitized before and after prayers. Large gatherings are not permitted. Hence, iftar tents or banquets outside mosques or anywhere else is prohibited. JMS/ExpatMedia
