UAE: Female employee ordered to pay Dh10,000 after insulting her manager
In a complaint filed before the Al Ain Court of First Instance, the management of an institution demanded that a female employee who worked for him pay Dh100,000 in compensation, in addition to the fees and expenditures of the action and the lawyer's fees. The appellant said that the woman who worked for him insulted him, and the court found her guilty of her actions. He said that she contacted his wife, informed her of their relationship and that he intended to marry her, prompting his wife to file for divorce. He also claimed that she filed a malicious complaint against him. Based on the final criminal judgment that convicted her, the court stated that the employee's mistake had been proven. The court also determined that the employee's error caused the appellant psychological and physical distress and calculated the compensation due to him at Dh10,000, as well as compelled the appellee to pay the lawsuit's fees and expenses.
