In honor of UAE Flag Day, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called upon all ministries and institutions to raise the national flag simultaneously at 11am on Friday (November 1). In his message, Sheikh Mohammed described the flag as “the symbol of our country, the secret of our strength, and the source of our pride.” He called on all “sons of the nation” to take part in the ceremony, reiterating that the UAE’s flag represents a commitment to unity and an enduring spirit of loyalty to the nation. Flag Day is officially observed on November 3 each year. The national occasion was established in 2013 by Sheikh Mohammed to commemorate the accession of the late president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2004. Meanwhile, Dubai has announced an extensive month-long campaign to celebrate key national occasions. Starting on November 3 and culminating on December 3, the campaign will feature events in partnership with 16 government and private entities, honoring UAE Flag Day, Commemoration Day, and UAE National Day. The celebrations will include daily firework displays at locations across Dubai, including JBR Beach, Al Seef, and Hatta. These spectacles, in conjunction with live traditional music and folk performances, promise a memorable experience for families and visitors. Seasonal markets, including the Ripe Market and Beach Canteen, will offer locally themed activities, Emirati food, and retail experiences. Additionally, Al Wasl Plaza at Expo City will be adorned with UAE flags and host cultural shows. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, commented on the campaign’s significance, underscoring the importance of honoring UAE’s founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. This month-long tribute is designed to unite residents and visitors in celebrating the country’s milestones and achievements. ICA/Expat Media
