Raise the flag: Residents mark UAE Flag Day

  DUBAI – As a show of love and pride, citizens and expatriates in the country marked UAE Flag Day on Thursday (November 3) by displaying the national flag. UAE flags were also displayed in establishments in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the emirates. UAE Flag Day, which falls on November 3, coincides with the anniversary of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s assumption of office. The event is marked with the flag being hoisted across all government departments, schools, communities and private buildings across the emirates. Flags were hoisted across the country at 11 a.m. on Thursday. “We are honoured to mark this day and support His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s nationwide campaign, which is a symbol of the country's unity and greatness,” said Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Senior Director of Property Management for Majid Al Futtaim malls. In Dubai, Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre, Me’aisem City Centre and Al Shindagha City Centre will raise the UAE flag at noon and mall visitors will be offered complimentary flags and scarves in the colours of the flag.
